3DSecure is called "Verified by Visa" by Visa, and "SecureCode" by Mastercard. This system was invented to prevent fraudulent credit card payments without the actual presence of the card (stolen card numbers, for example).
The aim is to reduce fraud for merchants and secure customer payments.
Introduced on October 1, 2010, the 3DSecure system was reinforced on July 1, 2021. This procedure is fully handled by our partner Stripe on its secure servers.
During payment, you will always enter your card number, expiry date and cryptogram, but after entering this information, a window will open asking you to enter your 3D Secure code. This will enable you to authenticate yourself and ensure that it is the cardholder who is making the payment.
